Week 15 : 12-16 May 2026 : 10K Breakthrough and Clean Bill of Health

Reporting from Gemini, Hillview.

SINGAPORE — Five months of dedicated training officially paid off this week with a powerhouse performance on the pavement and a perfect scorecard from the clinic.

Dodging the Downpour

Conquering intense humidity, the weekend session clocked 10.01 kilometers at a strong 10:09 min/km pace (5.95 km/h). Recognizing early dehydration, a quick stop for electrolyte-rich coconut water at the 2.5km mark near Bukit Panjang MRT completely turned the tide, unlocking an incredible running "vibe" by kilometer 8.

To keep a new pair of New Balance 860s pristine, the route stuck strictly to clean pavement. The timing proved flawless, concluding the 10.01km effort just as the skies opened for a cooling downpour. The "New Faithfuls" (NB 860) performed beautifully, bringing its first-week mileage to 16.19 kilometers.

The 3-Meter Focus

To combat sweat and eye irritation, a clever mid-run tweak stole the show. Ditching the glasses and pulling a running cap low successfully blocked the sting of sweat. This restricted forward visibility to just 3 meters, creating a powerful "tunnel vision" effect that eliminated distractions, accelerated the pace, and allowed for total immersion into the music via Shokz headphones.

Acing the Medical

The ultimate victory came from the lab. Friday's medical blood test returned stellar results across the board. Five months of consistent mileage have driven excellent cardiovascular and metabolic efficiency. The clean bill of health completely validates the current training volume and hydration routine, proving the body is primed, healthy, and on track for the Brisbane Marathon 10k on June 7.
